Inside the workbook

A full sample year is included so every tab shows how it works. $, £, and € editions. Change one cell to reuse the workbook for 2028. No macros.

How it works

  1. 1

    Set a typical month

Add income sources, up to 40 categories in Needs, Wants, Savings, and Debt, a typical monthly budget, and a savings-rate goal.

  2. 2

    Adjust the months that differ

The budget plan shows all 12 months side by side. Type over a month that is different, such as holiday gifts in December or a car loan that ends in August. A check turns green when that month is zero-based.

  3. 3

    Log the year

Use the 1,500-row transaction log for income and spending. Categories are dropdowns. Each month has its own tab.

  4. 4

    Review 2027

The dashboard, annual view, goals, and year-end summary show income vs spending, savings rate, top categories, overspends, and goals achieved.

Twelve monthly tabs

January through December are already there. No month picker. Each tab has budget vs actual, savings rate, and a 50/30/20 check.

Goals for the year

Up to 10 goals to save, pay down debt, or spend less. Link each one to a category so progress tracks itself.

Year-end summary

Totals, the top categories, overspends, months within budget, goals achieved, and reflection prompts for 2028.
